The Lord's New Church, a branch of the Church of the New Jerusalem, was foretold in the book of Revelation.

"Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And He who sat on the throne said, 'Behold, I make all things new.' And He said to me, 'Write, for these words are true and faithful.'” Revelation 21:1, 2, 5.

By the Holy City, the New Jerusalem, is not meant a physical city but in the language of parable the Doctrines of a New Church. These doctrines are drawn from a New Revelation or Word. The Lord indicated that there would be a new revelation given to the world when He said:

“I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth...." John 16:12-13

This new revelation was given to the world in a manner similar to the giving of all the other books of the Word, that is by means of a man whom the Lord inspired. The new revelation was given in the writings of the 18th century scientist and philosopher, Emanuel Swedenborg, whom the Lord commissioned. Swedenborg wrote: "The Second Coming of the Lord is effected by means of a man to whom the Lord has manifested Himself in person, and whom he has filled with His Spirit, that he may teach the Doctrines of a New Church from the Lord by means of the Word."

Some may be put off by this claim of Swedenborg, just as some were put off by the claims of Jesus. We invite you then to investigate for yourself and decide if this new revelation is that of a man seeking his own glory or whether this new revelation seeks the Glory of Him who sent him.

"Jesus answered them and said, “My doctrine is not Mine, but His who sent Me. If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak on My own authority. He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who seeks the glory of the One who sent him is true, and no unrighteousness is in him." John 7:16-18.

In John 1:45-46 after the Lord had called Philip to be one of His disciples, "Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found Him of whom Moses in the law, and also the prophets, wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph. And Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth? Philip said to him, “Come and see.”

To you also, we give this invitation, "Come and see."
